For our first class project, we were to utilize 11 different elements of composition. Each one has its own application to photography, and some of the concepts combine to make a fulfilling photo. These concepts are all sampled below. Pattern = "Hallway Brick Wall"Symmetry = "Rectangle Windows"Texture = "Cracked Pavement"Depth of Field = "Theatre and Hallway"Lines = "Horizontal Columns"Rule of Thirds = "Old National Bank"Framing = "Small Tree and Bushes"Perspective = ColumnsSpacing = "Stop Sign"Balance = "Wintry Trees"Color = "Snowy/Leafy Bush"To my surprise, I didn't have much trouble finding these 11 elements of composition in the group of photos I took. I learned as long as you take a little bit of time to try and find a different angle of an object or a place, you can interpret a lot out of that object and take a certain perspective out of the photo. I more so enjoyed utilizing these forms of composition rather than seeing it as a task, I felt it helped me to capture what I likely wouldn't have before.

Hi, my name is Jack Wisner, and this will be my photography blog. Before I start showcasing my photos, I have a few things to mention about myself. I am hard working and a good student, and I'm interested in maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle. I am a rower for my high school and have grown to love the sport, even the harder parts of it, and it all paid off last year when my men's varsity 8 won the Michigan State Championship. I also take time during the Fall to be part of the high school marching band, where I play alto saxophone. Some of my hobbies include spending time with friends, playing xbox, spending time outside, and watching football and basketball as I am an MSU fan, as well as a fan of the Detroit Lions. I believe spending time with family is important too.
The reason I have decided to take digital photography is because I took multimedia in 8th grade, and I wanted a better understanding of photography because composition intrigues me. Photography, in my opinion, is also an extremely useful skill to have as life goes on, and it interests me to be able to take good looking photos, especially since I have experience in a sport (rowing) where the possibility for beautiful landscapes and captures is limitless. |
